Harlem’s Amsterdam News recently published an op-ed which I wrote with Stephanie Low, head of the Sierra Club here in New York.  It’s about stopping the passage of Trans-Pacific Partnership, a new trade deal which, as I read it, literally and legally turns the power to govern the U.S. and other nations over to corporations.  As if they needed more help from Congress to accomplish this goal!

If you haven’t heard of the TPP, it may seem one too many sorrows to bear, what with police killings of unarmed black men, accounts of CIA torture, mass incarceration, climate disruptions daily . . .

Feeling such fatigue is no doubt a sign that  you are fully alive.  What helps me hold it together these days is actually holding it all together.  I mean this.  I pay attention to the causes at the root of the immense violence unleashed by the American civilization.  There really is one root beneath the immense, lush bush of violence.  Only one thing is going on.  More on this soon . . . See the article on the TPP.
